"In an increasingly competitive, commercially orientated profession, innovation will not only drive the future prosperity of the legal profession in Australia and New Zealand but may very well be the difference between its' success or failure", explains TJ Viljoen, CEO of LexisNexis Asia Pacific.
"Innovation by its very nature is the preserve of the few, but the inspiration for all. The global legal industry has benefited over time from various innovations which have their initial origins in the once agile and fearless Australia and New Zealand marketplace; however with the international legal marketplace changing so rapidly, there is a risk that those who once influenced change through their thought leadership and actions will become simply followers of imported trends. The purpose of the Index is not to simply recognize the various initiatives taking place in our industry, but to set an aspirational benchmark that all can look to for direction," says Justin North, Director, Janders Dean.
Firms and In-house Legal Teams will be assessed on their holistic approach to innovation based on the below criteria and will be asked to provide one or more projects, programs, initiatives and/or cultural evidence to support their innovation submission:
- Knowledge Sharing & Collaboration
- Client Services & Delivery
- Employee Engagement
- Application of Technology and Process
- Cost Management
- Legal Education, Training & Career Management
- Leadership & Mentoring
- Access to Justice
