It has been an action-packed six months for MLex’s Australia-based journalists. The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission’s five-year, rolling probe into the operation of digital platforms has hit the halfway mark, while the agency’s criminal-cartel enforcement campaign has regained momentum, after earlier setbacks. Then there were the massive data leaks that affected Singtel Optus and Medibank Private, which renewed pressure on the Australian government to prioritise work on the ageing 1988 Privacy Bill.
