The Honourable Justice John Bond
Justice Bond obtained degrees in Commerce (1981) and Laws (with First Class Honours) (1984) from the University of Queensland.
He served as the associate to Justice Brennan on the High Court of Australia in 1985. He was admitted as a solicitor in 1984 and after working as a solicitor in 1984 and 1986 with Morris Fletcher & Cross, he was admitted to the Bar in Queensland in 1987.
As a barrister, Justice Bond's practice was devoted entirely to commercial litigation and advice at both trial and appellate level. Areas in which he practised included administrative law, arbitration, banking and finance, building and construction law, constitutional law, contract law, corporations law, insurance, leases, mining, native title, professional liability, trade practices and trusts and equity.
His Honour took silk in 1999. He served as a part time member of the Queensland Law Reform Commission for 9 years between 2005 and 2014.
His Honour was appointed in as a Justice of the Supreme Court of Queensland on 19 March 2015. He is one of two judges managing the Commercial List of that court. He is also the chair of the Rules Committee of that Court.
