Matthew Curwood SC

Matt is a barrister at Francis Burt Chambers, Perth with more than 20 years’ experience as a commercial litigator and estates disputes lawyer.

Matt regularly appears as counsel in a wide range of cases in the Supreme and District Courts of Western Australia with a specific emphasis on estate disputes.

Prior to joining Francis Burt Chambers in 2013 Matt was the principal of his own legal practice, Curwood & Co Lawyers. Matt commenced his legal career in 1993 with a boutique litigation firm, Arns & Associates.

Matt is a member of the Legal Costs Committee, the statutory committee that determines levels of remuneration for legal practitioners in Western Australia. He is a regular presenter at seminars on legal costs issues.

In November 2020, Matt was appointed Senior Counsel by the Chief Justice of Western Australia.
