About Richard

Richard has been in practice as a solicitor in New South Wales (NSW) since 1973, and is a partner in the firm of Teece Hodgson & Ward, Sydney. He is an active member of the legal community within his area of expertise.

Richard is a member of the International Academy of Estate and Trust Law, the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, the NSW Attorney General's Advisory Committee on Succession Law Reform, the Supreme Court of NSW Probate Users Committee, the Elder Law & Succession Committee, Law Society of NSW and affiliate member of the Taxation Institute of Australia. He is a former member (1992-2007) and former Chair (1999 - 2007) of the Advisory Committee for Specialist Accreditation in Wills and Estates Law in NSW.

Since 1986, Richard has conducted workshops and seminars in the equity and succession areas of work for solicitors' continuing legal education. Richard publishes annual case reviews in the areas of family provision and contested estates as well as seminar papers on relevant estate and elder law. He is a co-author of Mason and Handler's Succession Law and Practice NSW (LexisNexis).
