About MariaMaria was admitted as a legal practitioner in NSW in 1976. She has had extensive experience in general legal practice as an employed solicitor and as principal of her own firm as well as being a barrister. Recognising the need for better training of new lawyers, Maria moved into legal education and held positions at the College of Law, University of Sydney, University of Newcastle and University of Western Sydney where she led the way in bringing practical legal training into undergraduate law degrees. She was appointed Associate Professor and Director of Professional Legal Education and Chair of Academic Board at the University of Western Sydney. Maria has been published extensively in revered international journals on legal education and has delivered many papers at prestigious law schools internationally including Harvard, Yale, Stanford and Cambridge Universities on legal education.
Maria now spends most of her professional life as Special Counsel to a boutique legal firm specialising in wills and estates, trusts, commercial practice and commercial litigation. She is in high demand as a seminar presenter for continuing professional development and often acts as a Chair or facilitator for legal firm conferences and retreats.
