Geoffrey Code

Geoffrey’s career has primarily involved administering planning instruments, advising on and preparing amendments to those instruments, and determining planning and environmental disputes under those instruments and other statutory regimes in Victoria.

Geoffrey was an instructing officer on the introduction of the Planning and Environment Act 1987 (Vic) and several subsequent amendments.  When working as a principal solicitor in the office of the Victorian Government Solicitor, he instructed counsel on litigation involving the Victorian Minister for Planning and advised public sector clients on a wide range of matters.  In 2006, he was seconded to Aboriginal Affairs Victoria to instruct on Aboriginal heritage legislation.

Since 2010, Geoffrey has determined proceedings in the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal in a variety of planning and environment jurisdictions and some other administrative law jurisdictions.
