Andrew Tulloch

Andrew Tulloch's practice focus is on trade and transport law, supply chain and logistics. He has extensive experience in maritime and aviation law and has a special interest in transport insurance. Andrew is very experienced in the insurance of the shipping, offshore and transportation sectors.

Andrew acts for a wide variety of maritime and aviation clients in Australia in all aspects of trade and transport law, including advice in relation to disputes concerning imports and exports and advice to port authorities and ship and airline operators. He also acts for cargo and hull insurers.

Andrew has extensive knowledge in subrogated recovery actions against air and sea carriers. He also has experience in policy interpretation and drafting. He has worked both in Australia and overseas providing advice to insurers in relation to these issues and has extensive knowledge of both the Australian Insurance Contracts Act 1984 and the Marine Insurance Act 1909 (Cth).

Andrew has advised many major corporations on supply chain and logistics contracts and has also advised on a number of major disputes regarding damage to offshore energy facilities.

Andrew joined Colin Biggers & Paisley as a partner in 2013, having previously been a partner at Phillips Fox (now DLA Piper) for many years.

Since 2005, Andrew has been an author for the LexisNexis analytical work – Australian Insurance Law (Annotated).

Andrew is ranked as a leading lawyer for shipping in Chambers and Partners 2020. Andrew is listed as a leading individual in transport law, as well as being recommended in this practice area in the most recent editions of Legal 500 Asia Pacific. He is listed as a leading lawyer in the shipping and aviation sections in Who's Who Legal Transport and in Doyle's Guide. He is also listed in the most recent edition of The Best Lawyers in Australia in the field of aviation, shipping, insurance, trade and transportation.

Speaking Engagements

Andrew has had significant involvement over many years in the Maritime Law Association of Australia and New Zealand and the Aviation Law Association of Australia and New Zealand and is the past President of the latter Association. He regularly participates in the Sydney Marine Discussion Group and was a founding member of both the Melbourne Marine Insurance Forum and the Australian Aviation Insurance Forum.
