  • How many searches can I set up under a topic?

    When creating a topic be aware that you are allowed 10 searches per topic so you can separate out your searches

  • Why do I get some irrelevant results when I first run my searches?

    When first setting up a topic it will need to be refined because of the number of sources you are searching across and the keywords you are using.  When setting up a topic run it manually initially until you start getting the desired search results.  This will be more time efficient in the long run.

  • How can I create a template for all my alerts?

    If the look and feel of the alert is going to be the same for all alerts you can create a central template which can then be used for all alerts.

  • How do I bring back more relevant results when using the index terms box?

    If you are looking to utilise index terms in your search always remember to click only retrieve highly relevant documents.  This will mean that each index term will need to have a 85% or above relevancy in order to appear in your results

  • Why do I not get a table of contents for the individual searches within a topic?

    If you have a topic with 10 searches and you are wanting individuals to be able to link to each search within an alert or newsletter you can only do this by creating each search as a new topic.  You will then be able to link to each search via the table of contents.

  • Do you need to find negative news on a particular topic?

    you can use the following search string connected with 'and' to the topic or entity you are searching;

  • Are you finding too many results coming back for an industry search?

    If so, increase the percentage relevancy for the industry: eg ,  INDUSTRY(MINING AND EXTRATION) PRE/3 8*% OR 9*%. This will allow you to bring back results which are 80% or above relevant
