About the Authors

Justice J D Heydon was appointed to the High Court of Australia in February 2003. At the time of his appointment he was a judge of the Court of Appeal, Supreme Court of New South Wales, having been appointed to that office in 2000.

M J Leeming is a Senior Counsel in New South Wales and Challis Lecturer in Equity at the University of Sydney.
