Ariff arrested

Former liquidator, Stuart Ariff, has appeared in Hornsby Local Court in Sydney following his arrest on 19 criminal charges brought by ASIC.

The alleged offences relate to his conduct while he was the liquidator of HR Cook Investments Pty Ltd (in liquidation) between 9 June 2006-29 March 2009.

Mr Ariff has been charged with 13 counts under s 176 of the Crimes Act (NSW) 1900 concerning an alleged transfer of in excess of $1 million with intent to defraud the company; and six counts under s 1308(2) of the Corporations Act in relation to his allegedly making false statements in documents lodged with ASIC regarding the records of HR Cook Investments.

Mr Ariff was released on conditional bail. The matter is listed for mention at Downing Centre Local Court on 7 September 2010.
