Bruce Whittaker

Bruce Whittaker is a partner in the banking group at Ashurst in Melbourne.  Bruce specialises in acquisition and leveraged finance, debt capital markets, securitisation, asset finance and leasing, and general banking.

He is recognised as a leading structured finance and securitisation lawyer. He assists clients to achieve timely and commercial outcomes for established asset classes, as well as to develop bespoke structuring solutions for novel asset classes. 

Bruce also has a leading acquisition finance practice, and assists major corporates and their financiers to finance both trade sale and listed company takeover acquisitions.

Bruce heads the PPS practice at Ashurst.  He has been closely involved in the development of the PPS legislative package, and participated in submissions on successive drafts of the PPSA and associated legislation and regulations.  He appeared before a number of Senate inquiries into the PPS legislation. 

Bruce is also an Editor and contributing author of the LexisNexis looseleaf and online service Personal Property Securities Law in Australia, and joint PPS Specialist Editor for LexisNexis' Australian Encyclopaedia of Forms and Precedents.

A partner since 1990, Bruce's career has included a secondment with Davis Polk & Wardwell in New York in their project finance and capital markets sections, and with a leading independent law firm in Germany, in its finance and mergers and acquisitions practice.
